It’s Brooklyn Baby!
In our first “Twin Towns” mini‑feature, we unpack how a tiny riverside suburb on the Hawkesbury River ended up sharing both a name and a story with one of the world’s most famous boroughs. The punchline: Brooklyn, NSW was named after the Union Bridge Company of Brooklyn, New York, which built the first railway bridge across the Hawkesbury.

The two towns couldn’t be more different which is why the name share so intriguing. Even more quirky, Brooklyn, NSW has its own ‘Brooklyn Bridge’.
